Tank turret Somua S35 modified by the Germans : the turret was cut in height to equip it with hatches for the tank commander.
Many french tank turrets, recovered by the Germans on vehicles at the armistice of 1940, are re-used on Ringstand (Tobruk), as here in Port-de-Bouc, near Marseille, on the Südwall (photo archive).
Somua turrets were in France (Normandie, Bretagne, La Rochelle, Marseille, Toulon ...), Denmark, Norway...
They were equipped with 47 mm canon, and a 7.5 mm Reibel machine gun.
